Monday 10 am – 2 pm
Laura Martin gained an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling from Birkbeck College (UCL) in 2006. This involved extensive training in the NHS which Laura chose to continue for 5 years after qualification. In 2012, she helped to set up a counselling service in an education setting and she is still part of this team.
The psychodynamic approach makes links between present problems and past experience with the aim of relieving pain and bringing about change. This work is exploratory rather than advice or solution based, focusing on whatever the client chooses to bring to each session. The counsellor and client work together with the issues and themes that emerge to create new perspectives and understanding.
