Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual lymphatic drainage is a specialised massage of precise, light hand movements which gently stretch the skin in a circular motion along the lymphatic pathways. This pumping technique helps to stimulate the contractions of the lymphatic vessels toward the lymph nodes. In addition, the slow, rhythmical nature of the technique appears to have a calming effect on the nervous system and is therefore relaxing and useful in alleviating pain.
